> About our program
Cheltenham Sports Basketball, is a member of the Cheltenham Sports Organization, whose goal is to build community pride one child at a time. Our basketball program exists through the efforts of committed volunteers. We strive to create a safe and fun environment to promote the game of basketball to our children and the life lessons to be learned from participating in a team sport. We encourage fair play, excellence in sportsmanship, honesty, teamwork, competitiveness, respect for self and one’s opponents. Understanding the rules of the game, learning the fundamentals, playing to the best of one’s ability and continual improvement is the focus of our program. > Join our team as a sponsor!
Each year more than 175 players from grades Kindergarten through eighth grade, from Cheltenham Township and surrounding communities, participate in our intramural program. Another group of more than 40 players participate in the Intra-County Basketball Association Travel League. Regardless of previous experience or skill level, our program’s message is the same – each player has an important contribution to make, and our team is most successful when we all do our best. As our league continues to grow, our registration fees are inadequate to cover increasing league costs. Cheltenham Sports Basketball exists through the efforts of committed volunteers. We strive to create a safe and fun environment to promote the game of basketball to our children and the life lessons to be learned from participating in a team sport – hardwork, dedication, overcoming adversity, and teamwork.
At this time, there are two ways to serve as a sponsor:
1. Team Sponsor ($100): Your name will be listed on the backs of the players' uniform jerseys for one team (8-10 players) with a phone number, email, or webpage address.
2. League Sponsor ($250): Your business information displayed on the backs of the players' uniform jerseys for one of our league colors (this year: Royal, Black, Red, Orange, and Green) across all of our divisions (6 in all) with a phone number, email, or webpage address. In total, 50 players will have uniform jerseys identifying league sponsors and more than 100+ local families will have exposure to your business! Please return the form no later than November 10, 2011.

> Program update Starting Monday, October 24 (6:30 – 8:00 pm) at Elkins Park School, we will begin our Cheltenham Sports Basketball 2011-12 season with our first instructional clinic of the year. This email outlines what you can expect this week (see below) This year, we will only be having one instructional clinic for our grades 3-8 players. After this week, we will hold our player evaluations and begin our extended instructional clinic program for our K-2 program. If you are new to our program, it is our program policy to not allow any equipment other than Cheltenham Sports Basketball equipment in the gym. Please do NOT bring your own basketballs to the gym. If you do, we will kindly ask that you take the balls back to your cars. Further, it is our program policy that a parent/guardian (or other responsible adult) remain at the gym at all times. Third, we ask that you not bring food into the gym, since this creates potential spills that we have no way of cleaning up. Finally, it is important that everyone keeps an eye on personal possessions, clothing, etc. so that these items don’t get lost.

Travel team tryouts will be held in early October. Pre-season activities will begin during the week of October 24th. Our game schedule will begin after Thanksgiving. > Get Involved: Coaches and assistant coaches are needed for all divisions.
|
We need committed head coaches, assistant coaches, scorekeepers, and other helpers to keep our program strong. If you are interested in helping serve as a coach, please register yourself as a coach and complete a coach’s background check at the same time you register your child to participate in our program.
We will hold a coach’s meeting in October to help everyone get off to a great start this season!
